Would you like to give your child a head-start into Primary 1 literacy? Little Listeners is a not to be missed opportunity!
Over 6 sessions your child will learn foundation skills for literacy with 2 very experienced speech & language therapists. Catriona and Isla will help your child make the jump from speech to literacy by developing key skills like rhyme & syllable awareness, hearing the difference between speech sounds, picking out the first sound in words and sounding out words.
The group is designed to give children aged 4-5 an extra stepping stone between nursery and school. The sessions will focus on developing listening and sound awareness rather than teaching your child to read and write – there’s plenty of time for that at school! Parents will get ideas and advice on skills to practise each week and at the last group session Isla and Catriona will provide you with a profile of your child’s sound awareness skills.
