Whether you are a parent, teacher, friend or work colleague of someone who has a communication difficulty, it is vital that you understand their issues. Understanding how to help someone with a communication problem goes a long way towards breaking down that barrier and helping them achieve their potential. Each training session that Isla provides draws on her extensive knowledge of communication, support strategies and communication disabilities. Please contact her to discuss your specific requirements and she will work with you to put together a programme that is tailored to your needs.

For each client…

Every individual is different, even when they share the same diagnosis. Isla takes this into account for her clients and will make sure that training is specific and personalised to each individual’s needs and the needs of the key people in their life. Whether it’s a quick half hour of training for your family members or a longer & more formal session for the staff at your child’s school, Isla will be able to help you out.

For educational establishments…

Blethers can provide training in communication difficuties, autism and Asperger’s Syndrome to help staff understand and get the best out of students with communication disabilities. After all, academic success relies on communication in both spoken and written form.

For employers…

Communication disabilities are often not obvious just from looking at someone, they are an ‘invisible disability’. People with social communication disorders can sometimes be given all sorts of unhelpful labels by others who do not understand their disability. For employers, being truly ‘disabled accessible’ is about more than being physically accessible to wheelchairs, although that is also important. It is also about tolerance and understanding of invisible disabilities. Blethers can help you and your staff with training sessions tailored to your specific requirements.
